چکیده
Construction of column-supported embankments (CSEs) with unreinforced high-modulus elements is now common practice to accelerate fill placement. These brittle columns are susceptible column fracturing and CSE designs often limit the degree lateral spreading such that tensile rupture will not occur, which stems from salient concerns may trigger uncontrolled and/or cessation intended vertical load transfer. However, unlikely coincide full mobilization available passive resistance at toe. Thus, it disputed in industry whether some tolerable. The objective this study elucidate influence on stability CSEs. A collective examination performance data accompanied by a parametric 3D finite element hypothetical embankments, considers bending due discrete crack locations. factor safety, reflects development failure wedge embankment toe, used as proxy for stability. Factors safety linked magnitude address adequate confinement can be provided foundation soils when occurs support embankments.

Bridge foundations supported by EPS geofoam embankments on soft soil
EPS geofoam can be used to support highway bridge structures without the aid of deep foundations. The development of this technology is important to accelerate construction on soft compressible soil. EPS geofoam allows for the rapid construction of bridge foundations on such soils without the time and cost involved in installing traditional foundations. Because EPS geofoam is an extremely light...
متن کاملLoad-factor Stability Analysis of Embankments on Saturated Soil Deposits
A continuum-based finite-element methodology is established for quantifying the stability of earthen embankments built on saturated soil deposits. Within the methodology the soil is treated as a fluid-solid porous medium, in which the soil skeleton’s constitutive behavior is modeled using a smooth elastoplastic cap model that features continuous coupling between deviatoric and volumetric plasti...
متن کاملTribological Behavior of Reinforced and Unreinforced High Chromium Cast Iron
In this paper, the metal matrix composites containing 22 wt % Cr, 2.5 wt % C and 2 to 16 volume percent TiC were processed by solidifying Fe-Cr-Ti-C in which precipitation of titaniumcarbide and chromium carbide occurred. The microstructure and abrasion resistance of in-situ synthesized composites were compared with the unreinforced high chromium white cast iron (HCWCI) containing 22 w. t. % C...
متن کاملStatic and Dynamic Analyses of Micropiles to Reinforce the High Railway Embankments on Loose Beds
Construction of railway embankments on loose beds without using any methods of soil improvement (e.g. stone columns in silt and clay beds, deep soil mixing method, jet grouting and also using micropiles individually or in groups form) leads to reduction of embankment slope gradient, which significantly increases the volume of soil operation. Generally, micropile as a reinforcing element with t...
